In this land, death and the act of dying herald the Valkyrie (warrior maidens of Odin) who give two golden coins to each dead player and direct them to the Land of the Dead. These coins are known as "Death Coins" or "Coins of the Dead" and are not used in normal commerce. Rather they are used to pay one's way into the Land of the Dead.

At the Land of the Dead, the Gate Keeper will demand evidence of the Death Coins before one may approach the Lord of the Dead who will take only one of these precious coins. If a dead player tries to enter the land of the Dead without the coins, the Gate Keeper--one of the Valkyrie--will send them to "Limbo" to await the Valkyrie's gift of coins.

Upon Enlightment, The Lord of the Dead will assign the player (with their agreement) a new role and a new loyalty. The player may return to the group that they were in, or be assigned to a new group, including being a ghost and doing special tasks for the Lord of the Dead. The groups are: a) the king's men, b) independents, c) Mage Osten Greatworth, d) Mage Pom Flourmount, or e) a ghost.
